Subject: Translation of Haller’s Army Final Commitment Papers

Attached is an image of Jan Pietrzak’s Final Commitment Papers to join
Haller’s Army. Jan was my grandmother’s brother. I can pretty much
understand the general content of the document, but there is one section
that I would like some help.
It appears to me that in one section they ask for Jan’s nearest relative in
the U.S., to which he responds His sister Maryanna Pietrzak at 1707 Virginia
Street.
Does the next section ask for Jan’s nearest relative in Poland? It appears
that he responds that he has a brother, Joseph Pietrzak in Przedluz, Warsaw
(Radziejow). I have already identified Jan’s ancestral village, but never
realized that one of my grandmother’s siblings (Joseph Pietrzak) had
remained in Poland. If that is a fact, then it is a complete revelation to
the surviving family members.
