Re: Searching family Polish roots and family from Poland

Dear Tadeusz and Narodowa.pl. I have been looking for family roots and family in Poland for many years. I have a very valuable family heirloom sent from Poland in 1950 – the picture of my grandfather’s niece and also the message she wrote on the back with the Polish name as Gmyrkowna Agnieszka. I’m not sure where the lady lived when she sent the picture but grandfather lived near Kaczanowo, not far from Wrzesna when he left Poland to come to Manitoba, Canada in 1906. Any help would be highly appreciated!

Dear Leonard,

Analyzing the message on the back of this photo with the surname given as “Gmyrkówna” – please note with the Polish language and grammar the surname suffix -ówna refers in the family to an unmarried woman – thus the right Polish family name after her parents would be Gmyrek or Gmerek.
